Lola Spradley 2014 Alumni of the Plains

Fort Morgan

Lola Spradley is a Colorado native.  She served in the Colorado Legislature from 1997 through 2004.  She represented House District 44, which included parts of Pueblo County and Fremont, Teller, and Custer Counties.  She also represented House District 60 which included parts of Pueblo, Fremont and Saguache Counties as well as Chaffee and Park County.

She was elected Assistant Majority Leader, Majority Leader and Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives.  She was the first woman Speaker in Colorado history.

While in the legislature, Lola championed issues concerning taxation, agriculture, historical preservation, conservation easements, health care, renewable energy and water among others.

She was in the private sector in telecommunications for 29 years leaving as Assistant Vice President and Division Manager from AT&T in 1996.  She worked in various positions including governmental affairs.

She co-chaired Amendment 37 on renewable energy to set a 10% renewable energy standard and has worked on other campaigns since leaving the legislature.  She most recently served on the National Preservation Action Board and executive committee and the 25×25 Steering Committee.  She served on the Colorado Preservation, Inc. board.  She also served on the Colorado Energy Development Authority, the Saving Colorado’s Open Spaces and Ranches Commission,  and the Colorado Telecommunications Commission.

More recently she served on the Judicial Performance Commission, the Huerfano County Historical Board, a member of PEO, and participates in various other political and non-political activities and events.

She attended New Raymer school and graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1964.  She is a graduate of Regis College, graduating summa cum laude.

She is married to Dale Spradley who started the Spradley Auto Network in Pueblo, Greeley, Fort Collins and Cheyenne.  She has a combined family of 4 children and 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
