Richard B. O’Connell, Executive Director, Logan County Economic Development Corporation
O’Connell joined LCEDC in March, 2007, with a background in commercial banking, manufacturing and healthcare administration. He is a native of Sterling, Colorado, where his family has lived since 1925. He earned a BA in Economics from Carleton College, Northfield, MN, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Denver.
His interest in economic development stems from his work as Chief Operating Officer at Armstrong Hospital in Kittanning, PA, where he headed a Public-Private Consortium to encourage development of the local economy. During his work with the Consortium, he helped develop a revolving loan fund for start-up businesses and worked with state and federal agencies to build a 400 acre industrial park.
He and his wife, Kay, live in Sterling and are parents to four children.
